This is South Africa’s only cask strength brandy, bottled undiluted at a powerful 62% ABV. Made in tiny batches from organic grapes and aged in seasoned French oak, it boasts a deep mahogany colour with copper glints. The nose is intense and layered, opening with molasses, dried fig, charred orange peel and vanilla bean. On the palate, it explodes with flavour: dark chocolate, toffee, leather and clove, all delivered with a fiery intensity and astonishing complexity. The finish is long, dry and resonant with oregano, nutmeg and roasted nuts. For seasoned palates only, this is brandy at full throttle, best savoured in tiny sips like fine peated whisky.
