How about coming and tasting wine at a farm that has been producing wine since the mid-19th century? Well, the Mons Ruber Winery on the way to Oudtshoorn has been doing just that.
Not only will you find Port, Cabernet, and sweet wine, but you can enjoy potstill brandy. The estate has a very long history of distillation. The brandy is distilled using traditional methods – i.e. over an open outdoor fire, which dates back to 1936. If you’re lucky enough to visit during the distilling period you might get to observe the process. You’ll enjoy your tasting in a building erected in 1854 that has also been a tollhouse and a hotel! Enjoy a glass of brandy while marveling over the Oregon pine and Yellowwood ceilings.
