Brandy making in South Africa has a rich and colourful history, that dates back to 1672 when the first ever Cape Wine was distilled into Cape Brandy on board a Dutch ship. Production methods have evolved ever since with the ebb and flow of colonial visitors, the most famous of such being one Renier “René” Van Eibergen Santhagens.
Since 2003, the Oude Molen distillery has been situated in the Elgin Valley. Our three copper stills, Long Cecil, Long Tom and Big Bertha yield eau de vie that is internationally celebrated for both purity and fruitiness.
Our deluxe Cape Brandy Experience includes a tutored tasting and bespoke chocolate pairing, with a distillery tour.
Tastings: Mondays – Fridays 10:00 – 16:00. Cape Brandy Experiences by Appointment.
